And WFO is a very good way to slam your mileage down quick. I went through a few months running the GZ WFO almost every time I rode, and my mileage dropped to under 40 mpg.

True but actual SPEED is more important than throttle position.
Or to be more accurate, it's high engine speeds that do the damage.

So, if something limits your top speed to 65-70 MPH.....like weight and wind resistance.....then how far open the throttle is makes little difference. Having a 16T front sprocket pretty much insures that you aren't going to hurt the engine in top gear.
