Bike wont start while warm and sitting for a few minutes

Hello, my gz250 turns over fine with a little throttle when cold (its hot outside now) but after I get off my bike and go shopping or get the mail for say 1-5 minutes the bike wont start it just keeps turning over. I don't push it if it doesnt start after a few cranks I let it sit so I don't flood the engine. This doesn't happen every time I use the bike but it has done this today and yesterday. When I sit with the bike about 5-8 minutes after the startup attempt it will usually turn over (as I curse and pout). I don't want to get stuck anywhere..

Here is some background on my bike:
7800miles
Some oil leaks out of the head when I ride it at 65mph for a few hours
Carb has never been cleaned to my knowledge (purchased the bike at 5k)
Bike has been parked outdoors its whole life.
Fuel is good (this has been going on for several tanks by now, just been getting worse recently)
New spark plug.
The bike runs excellent when it does turn over so no ignition problems.
If anyone has any input that would be awesome
Thankyou

Make sure yor vacuum hoses on the carb are attached. Have you tried moving the fuel lever to prime when it does'nt start? Have the valves been adjusted that you know of? Have you tried any B-12 or seafoam?

Mine used to do that every once in a while.Turn the key off & back on a couple of times always cured it for me.In your case if that doesn't work, click the red "engine off" button a couple of times.

The engine off switch may well be the culprit. The bike is parked outside and the switch has likely just gotten dirty and corroded inside. I would suggest contact cleaner for all the switch gear on the bike. All handle bar controls plus a shot at the rear brake light switch and side stand switch.

Perhaps a quick blast with some electrical contact cleaner right under the switch?

Next time the bike does this hold the throttle wide open and crank, if the engine starts after say 10 scronds or so, you are weeping some raw fuel into the carb possibly from a slightly dirty carb inlet needle of possibly a slightly high float level.

If this turns out to be the case. You will benifit from some Berrymans b-12 or SeaFoam.

Re: Bike wont start while warm and sitting for a few minutes

If it was a bad connection in the starter switch why would the bike attempt to crank?
