How to "outlaw" a bike concerning chrome?

I am looking to do some heavy modifications to my GZ this spring, and I was wondering what material I should use to black out the chrome? Is it a specific kind of tape or material,a high degree paint? I just want to be able to do it without costing a lot of money.

Yep,flat or satin black will stick well.The aerosol adhesion promoters work well.

I used high heat spray paint on my header pipes. Flat black baby !!

Any rattle can, or specific high heat? By prepping the Chrome you do just mean cleaning it off, or something else? Is there any specific danger areas to avoid with the paint?

I would use a light sand paper to ruff up the chrome, then

The reason Rookie used the high temp paint was for the exhaust pipe, which regular paint can't stick too.

Buy bbq grill paint, or radiator paint (high heat spray paint). All i did was spray some WD40 onto a scouring pad and scrub the crap out of it, all over. If you take the exaust off completely, its much easier. And that way you dont have to be careful of painting(spraying) something you dont want painted. Let dry 30 min then spray again . Etc.

Be sure to wipe of the oils with towel before you paint it.

I'd much sooner use a dremel with a sanding pad. I wouldn't want oil anywhere near where I was going to paint. Oh - and a dose of that stuff that turns rust a solid black colour (just in case)

The oil on the scouring pad left the pipes nice n shiny, i almost didnt want to spray paint them. Just wipe the pipes off well with towel or wet napkin before paint goes on. I had no problem doing this.
