Bolts on the gear selector assembly

I don't know how many people drive as I do but I have found that when I ride through a lot of twistys, The heads on those bolts get ground down till they are almost impossible to remove with a wrench. I just thought that I would share this information. The bolts that go there are flanged M8 x 20 x 1.0 and are available at most hardware stores for about a dollar each.

If you have a lot of sweeping uphill turns, I can see that happening a lot. If not, you might need switch to something with a little more ground/turn clearance.

That's pretty aggressive leaning for the GZ.

I do have a lot of sweeping uphill turns and a lot of sweeping down hill turns on my way to work. But I may be a pretty aggressive rider I don't know. I also have alot peg draggin twistys around my house banked of course.

Re: Bolts on the gear selector assembly

It is really quite surprising what the little price point bike can do in the twisties. Lynda always liked the sure footed feeling in curves. I would like to ride the Tail of the Dragon on a GZ. That may sound kinda silly but the Dragon is far too dangerous for a fast sport bike. I would rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

I was there in 07 for the 4th of July weekend. Rented a KLR 650 for the Dragon. Then had to aim the car back to the west coast. The car morphed into a truck in Alberta. Should have had a truck to begin with.
