General Tuneup - What should I be checking.
I bought my 2005 GZ250 about seven weeks ago. In a couple weeks I will be heading to class and have to take a 25 jaunt on a 55 mph road m-f. I would like to do this as safely as possible, so I need to know what all on the Bike I need to check over and inspect to make sure I am traveling safely. For each step, if you know of a video or online guide it would be of much help. I would like to learn how to maintain this on my own, but am totally new to it right now.
Also ANY and ALL high speed safety tips would be appreciated. In case it isn't added, what PSI should the tires be at? I am six foot tall and 200 pounds. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

About the best thing for you to do is read the owner's manual and if you need it, download the service manual too. You need to familiarize yourself with your bike as much as possible. Also get into a motorcycle safety course as soon as possible.

Remove and inspect the air filter. It is a trick by suzuki. The air flow is reversed and goes from the inside to the outside of the filter. Inspect the inside for dirt and stuff. Also find the airbox drain hose that hangs down to the bottom of the frame. It will have a plug in the end. Remove the plug and drain any liquid out and replace the plug. This is important.
Also you may want to replace the spark plug, change oil and oil filter. Go over all the nuts and bolts of the bike and check for loose stuff, bikes do vibrate loose eventually. |
