Am I overpaying

I found a 2001 Suzuki GZ250 for sale on craiglist. The bike appears to be in great shape with 1200 Miles and I agreed to pay the owner $1,900. We will close the deal in 2 weeks and now I am getting the feeling that the bike might be over priced.

Is this too much? What do you guys think?

Hi Ron,

I was just at the Suzuki dealer ordering the engine guard and windshield for my GZ today... they had a new GZ over there for about $3,200 before tax. Also, when I do see them for sale, rarely, the asking price is generally over $2,000. I was told that these bikes hold their value pretty well and the bike itself hasn't changed over the years... only the colors and decals. Does it look good? ever been dropped? any extras? (i.e. windshield, engine guard etc.)

Funny, I bought mine on craigslist too!

For some time now I have been watching prices of GZ250s selling on eBay. Here are the winning bids. These are all working bikes with clear titles. No crashed or parts bikes are included. These GZ250 parts bikes seem to be quite rare. This should help you decide.

The bike looks great, its never been dropped and is garage kept. But there are no accessories on the bike. The one reason I justifyed buying it is because he is willing to deliver it to my house, about 50 miles away.

Thanks for the responses, this site rocks!

I bought mine off Craigslist as well! LOL I looked up the average price on several sites and each one said for a 2002 (what I have ) $1900.00 in average condition and $2150.00 in excellent shape. I really like it so far, Power is a issue but the gas mileage offsets that, it still has a bit of zip. BTW badbob I may have to steal your kick arse ammo box mod, thats a really good idea and it looks cool too.

For what it's worth, in my experience, Ebay is a little bit under market. I've noticed this especially in cars. For regualr consumer goods, they can be way over priced but the auto market seems a bit low.
