Am I too fat for this bike?

Hi,

Please take it easy on me. I want a bike that is great on gas mileage just to drive to and from work to save money. I am 6' at a whopping 320 lbs. Wow, I know. I weigh more than the bike. My concerns: Am I too fat? Will the bike be powerful enough? Not wanting thrills, just commuting. Will I catch the clutch on fire?

It will pull you ok, but the GZ is not a powerhouse motorcycle. It will go 60-65 no matter the weight. Hills are a different story.

Which part of S.C.??? The flat or hilly part.

I'm in the somewhat hilly part... upstate SC. I don't care if I have to slow down for a hill as long as I make it up it. What kind of speed decrease should I expect?

You might be a little happier, and the bike too, if you go up one size to the Suzuki S40. That's a 650cc single cylinder, more power and oomph to better handle your size, simple to work on like the GZ, a little bit larger in size, and you would appreciate a little better performance from it. Still good gas mileage and reliability.

Another consideration is the distance you are commuting. Less than 20 miles is probably doable. More, I'd get something bigger.

you have 100 pounds on me and i feel like im slowing my bike down. yeah get the bigger bike, whats funny is the 650 can get at least 62mpg. i have a coworker that owns one and told me the numbers today. i bet if you did get the gz you fuel milage would be less as you would have the poor bike screaming the entire time

yes and the label is on the steering stem of your bike. gross vehicle weight is the max the bike can weigh total. check it out you total jerk, oh and get a better engine guard too! :lol:

Found it in my Owner's Manual under Chapter 6: Accessory Use & Motorcycle Loading.

You'd think it would be with the general Specifications.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating ( GVWR ) 775 lbs.

Says Curb Mass is 330 lbs. That means 445 lbs.
for the Rider with/without a Passenger.

Now I know.
