New from Northern Virginia

Hey Everyone,

I'm a new rider and found this site while researching a GZ250. I just completed a MSF rider course and I got bike fever... bad. I was hoping I can get some feed back about a 2005 model I found for sale. 1999, with 5500 miles. Sounds high to me. I'll post this topic in the other forum too.

Anyone near Manassas VA? Would love to meet some riders in the area and some more experience.

Howie

Welcome to the forum.I can't be much help with your purchase. It sounds like a good deal to me,but bikes here in Canada are usual around $1000.00 more.A new one here lists for $4299.00.Good luck with your purchase.

Welcome W4. Is this a private or dealer seller ? Can you get a service record for the bike ? The mileage is not high but a bike that has not been maintained "could" be a ticking bomb. If the tires are originals they are too old to be safe. Any tire over 5 years is a no-no. Make sure all the electrics work too. This will get you started. Carry on.

Hey, thanks for the welcome and advice. It's a dealer. Another guy traded it in; it was his starter bike. It seems there aren't many of these "newbie" bikes available in my area. Perhaps because it's spring? I'm going to see it tomorrow afternoon; I feel like it's a good opportunity but a new bike isn't really in the budget. Perhaps I should just stick with renting this summer. LOL

We shall see.

Re: New from Northern Virginia

Welcome to the forum from South Carolina. The price sounds a little high to me. I sold my 2007 Geezer with 2500 miles on it last August for $1600. You're correct when you say it's Spring as bikes will run more right now. Good luck and ride safe.

Welcome to the forum! I'm right up in Reston. Just got my first bike a couple of weeks ago. Around here, that's not too bad of price right now. It's just an expensive area, and the demand is high right now. Who taught your MSF course?
