unexpected color match!
just as a FYI....
my disclaimer: i was in a rush and i felt like i did a horrible job. however... its better than what it was. i will never buy another rubatone helmet again. coating broke down and got sticky. pollen, dirt, cat hair.... anything would stick to it... except pedestrians apparently. anyway. i sanded it down to get rid of nearly all of the original finish. Lori and I went into Advance Auto and picked out what we thought was the closest match to her '07 Suzuki... it was a Toyota color... Stellar Blue Pearl (BTY1612). i also clear coated it with Crystal Clear. primed with sandable primer.... kinda the black/grey color. all i can say.. is wow. dispite my sorry work on the finish sanding. looks good from 10 feet, though. helmet is a AFX FX90 Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: unexpected color match!
i wont promote this as part-to-part match... say matching the tank to the side covers... but if youre looking for something thats almost perfect, here ya go.

Re: unexpected color match!
Thanks, b1pig.
I think that's the same colour as my bike. Could come in very handy for accessories, as you say.

Re: unexpected color match!
I would call that a darn good color match. Question though. Are you sure that priming and repainting the helmet will not break down or weaken the helmet shell ? I would hate to find out the hard way that the helmet integrety was compromised.

Re: unexpected color match!
not likely. what will compromise integrity is cutting/grooving the shell in any way. the FX90 is a plastic shell helmet. the shell was not modified and non-etching primer was used. i think it was even a filler/primer.... Duplicolor rates the primer as being able to fill scratches and small defects. i can agree with that.
