My back yard again
Was out today and had to almost force myself to stop and do the pic thing. Yes it was that nice of a ride even if I do hurt after 6 hours saddle time. Have posted this area before but this time from a little bit different view. The first pic doesn't count really, I just wanted to see if my cheap digital would pick up the water fall way off in the distance. Just a shade to the right of center there is a whitish mark which really is water falling down. Starts about half way down the face of the mountain.
The other 3 pics are from Duffy Lake. The snow is a regular occurance here right on the road. There is usually an avalanche or 3 every winter that will bury the road. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: My back yard again
Went for a short ride a few minutes south of Squamish. This is Britannia Beach and a mine museum. Once the most productive copper mine in the British Commonwealth but shut down in the early 80's IIRC. Typical of most mines there is water run-off somewhere. This one even after shutdown had enough copper bearing water running into Howe Sound to make 90 BILLION pennies every year. No plant life in the water for generations to say the least. That is until 2006 when a water treatment plant(WTP) went into service just to capture the copper. The WTP is the white building to the far left of the main mine building up on the hill side. It even has a couple small water powered generators to help reduce it's power bill. I know it works after seeing new algae growing in the water and working in the plant for a few weeks in 2006.
