got my new pipes, man they look nice.

and they sound pretty good too, picture doesn't really do it justice, i thought my stock pipes looked really nice but these look much better, quite the pain in the butt due to bad directions, the hanger bracket needed replaced, the new one well it just said attach it (along with every thing else no pictures or way to tell witch bolts went where) just said attach the bolts provided here and attach the bolts provided there and there were a few that were a different size and length,, there was 2 was you could put on that new muffler hanger. and one was dead wrong but you could still attach the muffler to it, and both seemed like it could have been right (that may sound strange but you would have to see it) problem was it pulled the one in a strange direction witch was causing the exhaust leak. the head pipe was not setting flat in there like it should have been. but its all done and ready to roll after a few hours.

it's running about the same in the colder weather, it's still gonna need a rejet, the jet kit should be in any day now. shouldn't be too hard to do. looks quite easy actually

just changed my spark plugs(was gonna wait till i got the jet kit but figured what the heck midas well do it now) , while i had the tank off i was gonna see what i had to drill out to get to the fuel mixture screw, well it was already drilled out, they say turn it all the way in and than back in out 3.5 turns so i did this, it was almost screwed in all the way.

im really wondering if the bike had already been jetted, there is probably no other reason you would drill that out. not sure if it was adjusting that or changing the spark plugs that seemed to do the trick but its running great right now. might have been a little of both, it did sound like it might have been missing just a little bit but not quiet enough to know for sure, i might have just had a spark plug go bad.

and yes it sounds great, at idle its not too terrible loud, at light throttle its not to terribly loud but when you get on it or the rpm's start to get a little high it makes some noise. but keeping from getting loud is controllable while going threw a neighborhood or something like that. pretty much what i wanted,

it sounds way better than the stock pipes and way better than the stock pipes after debaffle. i would say these were money well spent.

well ill tell the full story for those who dont know, the bike seemed to be running a little rich, (a little strong exhaust fumes) i debaffled my pipes and it still ran good but did not smell as rich as it did, when the weather started getting cold it started running bad, cold condensed air may have been leaning it out just a bit too much, was not noticing hardly any fumes

just a few min ago i had it our running in the garage for a few, the exhuast fumes are not as strong as they were, but i can smell them again, and they seem to be a normal level (about the same as running a car in the garage) that is probably a good sign, so that probably means the air fuel mixture is about right. i really might not halve to jet this thing.

when it gets back down in the 40's tonight ill take it out for a little run and see how it goes. and if it does not run bad when its colder out i think its all set.

I understand what you are saying......but I doubt that you have enough experience to be able to tune an engine by smell. :poke2: :biggrin:

If the air filter is still stock, you will know when you change it over to k&N. If the bike continues to run really good, it has been jetted already (likely) because a more open front end usually makes a LOT more difference than the pipes do.

Many change pipes without re-jetting. Almost nobody changes pipes AND air filter without doing it because it usually runs like crap......especially when not fully warmed up.

well i have that k&N filter, gonna throw it back in there and and see what happens,

when running just aftermarket pipes it calls for a 132 main jet, when you have aftermarket pipes and aftermarket air filter it calls for either a 150 or a 155 main jet.

it does smell like its getting a little more gas than it was so that is a good sign, no you cant tune a engine by smell but it can give you some kind of indications, usually if your running rich you can smell that its running rich and so on so it does give you a idea of whats going on.

does not like the k&N but it runs much better with it in than it did before, last time i had it in it lost all torque in the mid and higher rpm's this time i just lost torque at the higher rpm's only took it out for a min and came right back.. it was already warmed up
