Just bought mine today...

'Ello from Pittsburgh.

British English, right?

Thought I'd join up since I just got mine (2004, Black, Picturess soon) (my first bike, 20yoa) and already have a question.

I heard there is an underseat compartment. How does one open that?

On one of the black side covers, you should see a key hole. Insert the key and turn clockwise about 1/4 turn; that will unlatch the seat. If you don't hear a slight "pop", then you might have to pull up on the seat a bit while turning the key. When done, it snaps back into place.

Welcome !!

P.S. An owner's manual can be had from any dealer OR you can download a copy right here.

Actually, not quite true! Those Southern Englishmen (from around the London Area) always pronounce the "h", so it would be "hello". It's only us Yorkshiremen (from the county of Yorkshire, up north) who drop the first "h" in any word. We have a different way of speaking. It's like comparing a New England accent to a Southern Drawl.

Re: Just bought mine today...

Welcome to the Forum. Hope you enjoy your GZ for a long time. Plenty of good advice on this site, sometimes a little more than you thought you asked for but usually offered by well meaning folks who've been there, done that and are trying to save you some heartache or headaches.
Is it good riding weather in Pittsburgh yet? I'm in N. Georgia and other than the fact that we've had over 5 inches of rain in a week, the temperatures around here have been great for riding lately.

Re: Just bought mine today...

Pittsburgh usually sees about a month or so of absolute frigidity, a few months of uncomfortable cold on either side of it, and a lot of rain from the surrounding mountains. That said, when we do get a nice sunny day, we enjoy it even more.
