need engine help now

Ok guys here is the deal. Just went on a short cruise. Pulled in at a gas station to get a drink. When i shut the engine off it made two definatly loud clanking metal noises and stopped. It will not start again i believe the motor is trash. Sounds lke it came apart inside. Cant tell right now well because it is dark pulled the starter it is definatly good. still makes a clanking noise when it does turn over. Need a new or remanufactured engine. Or this will be the end of my gz what a sad day.
SO yeah guys help please. Dont want to go to the honda shop tomorrow and buy something different. Unfortunatly i have a bad feeling it is going to be more expensive to buy a new motor than just buy a new bike.

What kind of oil and, I have to ask, how are you checking the sight glass? With the bike on the side stand or with the bike upright?

Drain the oil and see what comes out. Check the oil filter for bits of metal.

Remove your gas tank and open the vavle cover (2 10mm bolts). Make sure your valves look like they should and aren't broken.
Pull the spark plug and shine a light down into the cylinder head to see if anything looks messed up.
Make sure your clutch operates properly and see if you can shift through the gears.

If whatever your problem is is any deeper in the engine than that, then you will probably have to either rebuild or replace.

Noise

Before you assume it's internal, you might check that the generator has not come apart. This is known to ocassionally happen on GZ's and although not real cheap to fix, it's definately cheaper than a motor or a new bike. Check the service manual, you'll have to pull off the generator cover on the left side of the engine to check it.

Hopin' you don't need an engine.

engine help

Well it looks as if the engine has dropped an exhaust valve. But not a whole lot of major damage has been done since it fell out when i stopped the engine. So looks like i will be doing the top end of the motor. Yay for me right yeah not. Does any one want pics on the process of how do do it if god forbid this happen to anyone else. Oh yeah i decide to buy a new bike went out and bought me a 2006 suzuki katana 750. So i am going to give the gz to the gf so she can start learning how to ride.
