Yep...no joke. It was a Dunlop 401 140/90/15 with tube.

This was back when my Yamaha XV535 was my
only form of transportation for 12 years straight
so I was really racking up the miles each year.

the confusion continues. the bike shop came back with a kenda set of tires....instead of a 110/90-16 he is suggesting a 110/70-16 what does that mean to me and the handling of the bike ??

A 110/70-16 is a lot lower profile than the original.The 100/90-16 is much closer to the original,and will not affect your handling.I used the 100/90-16 for 3 1/2 years with no problems.

Believe me when I replaced it...that Tire was Slick Willie.

Wasn't able to repeat those results. Got only about 29,000 2nd time.

I would stick with the size you are supposed to use.

If you don't you may encounter Fender Clearance issues
and/or making your Speedometer become inaccurate.
If the brand you want doesn't have your size then
it's time to consider any other brands that fit.

The 110/90-16 is very hard to get in any brand.That is why most of us change to the 100/90-16.That size actually makes the speedometer more accurate,as it is inaccurate from the factory.

We were talking about the Kenda tire,which is a cheaper tire,that does not come in a 110.Most of them tires are double the money of a Kenda.Plus them tires are meant for sport bikes,and have soft compounds that wear faster than cruiser tires.For me in Canada I would have to pay outrageous shipping charges,and than pay to have it mounted & balanced.No to mention,that my dealer would be pissed.I can buy a Kenda tire and have it mounted & balanced for around $75.00.Plus I have a grateful & happy dealer.
