Replacement Screw - Right Side Cover 2000 gz250

The screw holding the right side cover in place is completely stripped. I'm having a more savvy friend come help me remove it so I can access my battery, however I want to replace it with a new screw. Is this something I can get at a local hardware store or is this a super specific screw I should order from Suzuki or a specialty store? I appreciate any insight.

First summer as a rider - forgive my ignorance. Thank you!

After removing the screw you could go to a big box hardware and likely find a replacement. Take the old one with you as a sample.

Stripped ?? A broad term. If the thread in the frame is still good, a new aftermarket screw will do it. But be sure to use that oem special shoulder washer to keep from damaging the plastic.
