New rider with GZ

Hello Everyone,

Glad to see a community exists around the GZ250. I a new rider at 50 from Southern Ontario, Canada. I took the Canada Safety Council course last weekend but I need to do a M2 retest.

I got a 2000 GZ250 with 11,000km (6,800 miles) today as my first ride to practice on.

Welcome Hach. Always glad to have a new member join us. You will find the GZ is an awesome 1st bike to build your riding skills and confidence on 2 wheels. Don't be in a hurry to go bigger. The GZ can fulfill most needs with the exception of running on a major freeway with the big boys on 2 wheels and 4 wheels.

The GZ is a kick to ride. Still working on Grandsons GZ. Before it took a dump he was enjoying it. I have to get back to work on it. Just been to many customers wanting their shrubs and trees trimmed right now. Hopefully things will slow down a little and we will have time to work on GZ.

Hi Hach.

As you're in Canada, have you got a Canadian or an American bike? If it's the Canadian/European model it'll have a big "Marauder" logo on the tank. That means that the carb's set up richer than the American model (due to their nanny emission regs) If it is the Canadian model, tread carefully if you read any carb mod information on the site.
