Gas Tank

Hello,
I have a 2004 with clip on cafe racer bars. The bars hit the gas tank and I was wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this issue and if so what is the solution. Is there an aftermarket or a smaller tank for a different bike that would be compatible?

Thanks

Re: Gas Tank

Hi there,

I was waiting for someone with more customizing expertise than me to come in, but they haven't, so here goes, for what it's worth. I've never heard of an aftermarket tank for the GZ, but I believe that I heard, somewhere in the dim and distant past, that someone had fitted a peanut tank from a Harley Sportster. I can't remember if any modification was needed, but that's the best that I can come up with.

Re: Gas Tank

There also exists motorcycle shops where they can get the dent out of the tank, I heard.
Oh and welcome to the forum! :2tup:

Re: Gas Tank

Hey I've been looking into the same issue but I think you can get taller risers which should solve the issue cheaper and easier. That's the route I'm going. I haven't done it yet but it's going to happen before to long.

I have "super bars" which are close to drag bars but with about and inch of pullback. My bars hit my tank but not enough to really keep me from turning. I think right now I have either a 1 or 2 inch riser and a 3 or 4 inch will solve my problem.
