rev limiter
does the GZ have one
or is there a risk of redline or over revving I see there is a howto for installing a tach I would hate to cause engine damage because of not shifting soon enough.

Do a search for "limiter" and read the resulting thread. No need to duplicate that in another new thread. My guess: (not a part of the other thread): Newer models DO. Either way, it's not likely to be a problem unless you rev. it with no load or maybe in 1st gear. From MY perspective, it sounds like it's gonna come apart WAY before it actually IS.

Thanks
Oops, My Mistake.
I guess I should have thought to do a search first. since I am new to this bike, I am sure absolutely everything that I can think of has already been discussed. I picked up the bike last night, she is a quick one, I will give her that. I have already read about a few of the mods I would like to do.

rev limiter
Hey rudeboy I have a marauder 250 2002 model. I installed the tach as described in the howto. I have reved past 8000 rpm briefly.
In 4 th gear my bike will pull past 8000 rpm however in 5th If I apply a bit of choke it will pull 7800 rpm without choke it pulls 7500 rpm solidly. I tend to shift in busy traffic 5000 - 6000 rpm which keeps me in complete control and out of trouble during my commute from scarborough to markham. I use woodbine ave because the 404 is way too windy and busy ( lots of trucks ) I suggest install the tach.

Rude,
We do suggest searching a bit and reading some of the old posts and old conversation. They can be very useful. But, reading over your posts about final drive ratios shows that you do have some useful knowledge and I look forward to hearing some more of your contributions to the forum. Also, we haven't discussed everything. So, don't be afraid to bring it up if searching doesn't give you a reasonable response. Have you downloaded the service manual yet? It's the first post in the "General Maintainance" section. That manul should be your first mod. Login or Register to Remove Ads |
