Ah yes, the old not enough tools scenario. Funny how you will acquire tools for a particular job and never need them again. Wrenches you can never have enough of. Some of the stuff I have collected over the years leaves me dumbfounded as to why I ever needed it.

If you work on something you have never worked on before, it seems like you end up spending more time and money on special tools for said job then you did on the job itself

I have learned over time and a few decades of oops's to not buy the tool for a new job. I just pay some one with the tool and knowledge to use it. A lot less blood loss and scar tissue involved too.

You have more room for your hands and tools to work under the fender, between it and the rear tire, for that installation, or to change the bolts to the longer ones if you put on a sissy bar, if you raise the shock up to it's highest setting, and even better if you can jack up or support the bike on something to drop the wheel down.
As a hint, if you have to replace those bolts with the longer ones, like for the sissy bar or the bag supports, replace them one at a time, it's a whole lot easier to line everything up when you're pushing the bolt through 4 different items.
