no spark

I bought a gz250x that had been stolen. the ignition switch had been torn out. We replaced it but i dont have any spark. The cdi box is new.I have 12volts @the coil but no spark comming out.I work on boats not bikes. Please help.

If you got 12v at the coil tap, perhaps bad coil, bad plug wire, or bad plug??

I agree with what Sarris said, if you have fire at the coil but not coming out the other end, or at the plug, then the problem is most probably going to be in between where fire goes into the coil, and the end of the spark plug.

The trick is don't make it more complicated than it has to be, if you work on boats, the same basic principles are going to apply to that bike engine.

My experiance on boats has has been in the points or a power pack not putting out enough juice to fire the coil,but it makes sense now that you mention it. Thank you for your time and input. If you have any questions on outboards or inboards feel free to contact me.

When I got no spark on my bike it was due to a bad spark plug, so I ended up buying new one.
