New rear bike stand

I saw this on another site. It's real quick, simple, pretty ingenious, for raising your rear wheel off the ground for routine maintenance. One of the members made his own version for about $15 from some square aluminum tubing and a heavy duty hinge.

Re: New rear bike stand

You want pics of what the guy on the other forum made? His design is pretty simple.

Re: New rear bike stand

Here they are.
You're welcome, forget the hug but a Canadian Ale would be OK.
You'd just have to adapt the upper end to whatever you want to attach it on to your bike so it won't slip.

Re: New rear bike stand

Wow, that is disgustingly simple. Another project to play with. Thanks again.

Re: New rear bike stand

Make two, send me one.
I guess they don't have to be customized too much as far as height to fit the individual bike, as most bike wheels are within an inch or so diameter of each other, it would just determine how far over it would lean. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out the dimensions. You could also make it adjustable to adapt to different wheel diameters if you had to, for different bikes in your stable.

Sure, easy for you to say but do have any idea what shipping from the GWN would be. Would be far cheaper and easier for you to make your own. You probably have better facilities than I do. My workshop is an apt. balcony and the work bench/vise combo is a wooden foot stool and a couple clamps. Of course that was my choice to really down grade a few years ago and make life less complicated and more economical.
