Battery Maintenance.
Mr Brilliance here. Didn't bother pulling out the batteries or digging out the charger this winter. So now the I will be in the market for a battery. The GZ battery tested good but the VStrom is too pooped to pop. 5 volts doesn't look too good but will charge it up and see if it holds a charge. All I had to do was plug in the Battery Tender and forget it. Gonna be an expensive lesson me thinks.

Re: Battery Maintenance.
Running it down once or twice shouldn't destroy the battery. I've run my GZ down twice by forgetting the Tender, but after a full charging, it's as strong as ever and still holds a strong charge.

Re: Battery Maintenance.
It should be fine if it didn't freeze. If it's not a sealed battery be sure to check the fluid level before you charge it so it doesn't get fried.

A fully charged, healthy battery should survive 60-90 days of non-use with no ill effects at all. One that was on the verge of failure, however, is an entirely different story. Now would be a good time to put a charger on the GZ for a couple of hours......just to be sure for the next 60 days or so.

Re: Battery Maintenance.
The GZ battery was only down to 11.5 volts when I removed it and put it on the tender. Fully topped up now. The VStrom battery is a year older and might recover. It is charged up now too so I will just monitor both for voltage drop while they are inside and warm. Got my fingers crossed.
