Rookie Here

Greetings from the northern burbs of Chicago. Just finished the MSF course at the local Harley dealership and purchased a new GZ250 as a starter bike. Also have a yamaha scooter which I use for errands. I read lots of posts on the site which made the decision to buy the GZ a lot easier so thanks to all of you for the past posts.

Eric

Re: Rookie Here

They do a little "tour" of the dealership which includes the sales area but, to be honest the sales guys there were pretty low key. The one actually called to sales guys he used to work with at other dealerships trying to find me a decent used honda or suzuki 500 cc on their lots. I just didnt want to jump to a 750 cc or 883 cc right now until I really am sure of myself. Thus the GZ. One thing there I thought was cool out of the tour was learning that the dealership will store your harley over the winter for free and for $60 more do the prep (fuel stabilizer, etc) then get the bike ready for spring.

Re: Rookie Here

I think I would make someone that deal, as long as they didn't check the odometer before they dropped it off to me.

Re: Rookie Here

Go, I spend a lot of time in the windy city - are you going to ride your GZ to work? Do you happen to work downtown/loop? I've been talking to one of my client buddies (just turned 40) that used to have a dirt bike as a kid, and he's getting the itch. Hope you get to enjoy the two days of nice weather coming up between "Hotter than Hell" and "Freezing My Ass Off"

We do a little bit of computer "stuff" down here at the UofI too.
If you get down this way, look me up.

Re: Rookie Here

Welcome Gozone. Glad to meet another rider from the Windy City burbs. I, too, took the MSF course at an HD dealer. It's pretty difficult to get into one of the other MSF courses in NE Illinois. Riding the Buells they use made me appreciate my GZ even more. Enjoy.

Re: Rookie Here

Welcome!

I'm in Des Moines, just 5hrs west of you. I come to the Windy City to see a lot of concerts. I'm a regular at the House of Blues there.
