First thing is think why you pulled the key out of your pants pocket. Was your action something you routinely do? Were you going to start the bike???Were you going to eat some cereal then go ride your bike?? I have accidently dropped my keys in the laundry basket , trash can, a shoe, kitchen sink (cause it got knocked in after I laid it next to it), sock drawer. Try to follow your steps after you removed the key out of your pants pocket. What was the very next thing you did? And did after that? If you did not leave the house then it is in or at your house.

Thanks Alantf. Thats what happens when one looks at the posts after a long work day. Those little gray cells just do not work. Sorry Studysession. I have removed the seat lock before. I was working on the GZ and laid the key in the tray under the seat and put the seat on. Just as it snapped shut, I remembered the key. OOPS!!! I will talk to a local motorcycle shop and see what they have to say about the problem. Sorry Studysession for steering you wrong with the gas cap idea.

If you can get under the seat, you can get the gas tank off. Drain the gas and take it to the locksmith.
I lost my scooter key at work and have yet to find it and that scooter is long gone! When I get any vehicle besides expensive chip keys, I make 5 keys for it so I have 6. Then you put one of those keys in your sock drawer, one on key rack, one on my girlfriend's key chain, one at work and the last one is one you keep on your key chain. Also I have my girlfriends and her mom's keys and we all have each others keys so we can unlock each other. It happens more than you want it too. Hope you find your key! Locksmith made my gz keys from SUZ blanks I have to get one to write down

That's a good relief. The Suzuki key blanks I got have ILCO X241 SUZ18 on them. They only cost a couple dollars each.
