Yeah take your time. I've done several 800 mile

Yeah, as mentioned, I'd have to question whether the motor is sufficiently warmed up.

For the really cold days add a pair of latex/plastic surgical type gloves between the liners and the outer gauntlets. Also a good tip for rainy weather.

The stock GZ seal might as well be solid steel and I seldom ride more than an hour or so without a break.
I broke my back, (compression fracture 4th and 5th lumbar) when I was a 16yo....
