Actually that happened to me. One of the local LEO's stopped me to chat about the Vstrom shortly after I got it. He was considering buying a Vstrom and wanted my reasons for the purchase and my riding impressions. Never got to talk with him again as he transferred to a more Northerly detachment soon after.

Wow! Over here, he'd have then gone over the bike with a fine tooth comb, to try and find something he could hand out a €200 fine for. The only conversation they know is "I'm going to fine you", you see, they get a bonus for every fine they hand out. That's no incentive for giving anyone the reason of the doubt, or for chatting instead of making money. :curse:

Lovely system. They get paid to wear a uniform and a bonus for doing the job.

Here, some police departments have a quota system, where officers must give out so many tickets a month. They will say that they don't, but I know better. No bonuses that I am aware of.
