Re: 2008 GZ250 - $1200 (not mine - Baltimore, Craigslist)
Looks just like mine. Same color, same year. Only I've got almost 5K on mine. Sigh.

I wouldn't touch it. 120 miles on it and already missing a side cover. And a towing device for less than a good sized pizza !! Smells a bit fishy to me but that's just an old guy opinion.

Maybe he's just trying to show off how clean the battery is.
Aren't those towing devices bad for the bike's trans as there's no lubrication in there without the engine running? Maybe you should remove the chain on a long trip? And you can never back the rig up. |

There may not be a lube problem if the oil level covers the tranny gears and some other parts. If that were the case I would still wonder about chain life, chain lube and tire and bearing wear over a long distance. Not to sure about the towing device itself. If only the front wheel is attached to it there could a lot of stress on the front end of the bike.

Re: 2008 GZ250 - $1200 (not mine - Baltimore, Craigslist)
I've actually seen this bike and all I can say is AVOID! The owner was completely dishonest about the mechanical & cosmetic condition. I made a 2+ hour 1 way trip to be completely disgusted with the deceptive actions of the seller. The bike looked like it had been ridden in the woods. Honestly, I've seen older dirt bikes in better condition. There is damage in three different places on the tank, which includes several scrapes on the left side, deep scratches on the top of the tank and a good sized dent on the right hand side. The rear fender is missing a small piece of plastic off of the tip of the fender and has been touched up with touch up paint. The left front fork leg has taken some sort of an impact and has a grazed area on it. Headlight and both bar ends also show evidence of slight damage. The bike did run, but was in obvious need of a tune up from leaving old fuel in the system. Also, second gear is barely there. It felt like it is border line stripped out. Shifting produced a very LOUD mechanical clacking sound through out the gear range. To top it all off, the owner did not have the title. This was the one thing that they were honest about. I would have been willing to buy the bike on the spot and trust them to mail the title to me once the lender released the title. Needless say, they were not honest about the bike. I wasn't about to find out if they could be trusted to follow through with the title. Long story short....BEWARE.
