New GZ250 owner! love this bike
Hello everyone,
My name is Jarred. I just got a 2006 GZ250 (5400 miles) last weekend and have been on the forum reading practically every post. Seems like a great online community of friendly, knowledgeable riders. Just wanted to say hi! About the bike... Everything on the bike seems fantastic. I owned a 1986 GSXR 750 a few years back and just fell in love with older bikes and the community that follows them. The bike I have now is not so old, but seems like a great group of people ride them. Plus it has a classic/cruiser style (which is what made my wife let me get it; she didn't like riding on the sport bike). Anyway, Hello everyone! Hope to contribute some of my own write-ups, experiences, humor, photos, and what not... [attachment=0:2417lela]photo.JPG[/attachment:2417lela] Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Welcome fellow Californian...
...remind me again where is Vista? I almost remember riding through it, but not quite. Your '06 has only 1000 more miles than my '08 and I don't usually go long distances on it. Looks new.

Re: New GZ250 owner! love this bike
Might have passed through there on the way to and from SD last June. Lots of good riding in San Diego County. And, yes, the gas mileage (and overall operating costs) is (are) hard to beat. My commute to the office (at least when I used to go) was about 14 miles round trip - I could do about a week on a gallon!

If you know of any good places to ride in this area, please let me know. I was in the midwest when i had my last bike, so i have not had the chance to explore canyons, mountains, etc with the bike. I have already been told about some east county roads to check out, but any other places that you know of, let me know. I'll be sure to check out the 'Ride Report' section too! |

Re: New GZ250 owner! love this bike
Jarred,
I have a Southern California "Mad Maps" with about 35 recommended loops on it at home. Recently, I had the pleasure of riding South and East grade roads (I think off the 76 or the 79 or one of those 70's south of Temecula) to Mount Palomar. These are pretty awesome. Also, Ortega highway and the other side of 74 (Pines to Palms) highway. And the 243 is super awesome. I recall some quality roads further south, I will send you specifics when I get back next week. An excellent book to check out for great rides is Motorcyle Journeys through California and Baja by Clement Salvatori - which can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Journe ... 1884313604

Welcome to the forum Jarred! Wow, that's so funny - my last bike (which happened to be my first street bike) was also a Kawasaki 750, although a KZ.
I got my GZ for the same reasons you did : love the styling, comfortable ride, and oh yeah - one more - AWESOME gas mileage! I pull 70+ on mine, and love every mile of it. Enjoy that bike and ride safe :2tup: AZ Kev
