This is my fourth post. I posted on the troubleshooting section first looking for help. I have been checking out the many posts before joining and there seems like a lot of good info here. My wife and I are newbie riders. I had a Harley 1975 SXT 125cc in my younger days, and a 1976 Harley Sx175cc later. Had not riden for many years after that. My wife wanted us to get a motorcycle for a couple of years, and last year we bought our first beginer bike. A 2006 Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc. I practiced, passed my test, and we have been riding together ever since. Last month we started looking for a bit bigger bike for us. we wanted to stay around a 250cc. Found a used 2006 GZ 250cc and we bought it. It is in the shop now getting it's reflector recall done, and the fender-rear tire TSB (recall) done as well. (My troubleshooting posts covered this). Only rode it one day, but we really like the comfortable seats, power, and smooth ride and suspension. We get it back next week and we can't wait. We have a lot of fun together on our rides. Very enjoyable. We should have done this years ago. Well that about covers it.. Hello... GZ Brian

How much difference is there between the Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc and the gz250, as far as power/speed type stuff?

Welcome aboard Brian.

The GZ250's aren't known for their comfortable seats - quite the opposite. If you think the GZ's seats are comfortable by comparison, I hate to think what an Eliminator 125 seat feels like.

Welcome to the forum, I guess seats like a lot of things are relative. If you are comfortable on the GZ seats, more power to you! Glad you joined us here, have fun riding!

i think the gz seats were not all that bad,

The GZ is a pretty big improvement over the 125. When I ride the 125 myself it does fine. Can get up to 65 mph on the highway. I am 5' 10" tall weigh 170. With my wife (5' 4" tall low weight) on, we can get it 55 but it takes a while and it struggles. Going on hills I have to downshift a few times with the 125. Th GZ on the same hills took them with no problem. We mainly do back road riding and the comfortable spped for us is 40-50 mph. The seat on teh GZ is a little larger then the Kawasaki adn just feels better. We have ridden the Kawa for a couple of 3 hour long rides. The Kawa was getting about 75-81 mpg for us, and the GZ should keep us in the 70 mpg we think. We did not want a big bike that would egt 40-50 mpg. We don't group ride or ride for days at a time. We ride for fun and enjoyment. The GZ seems to fit us just fine. If I can answer anymore questions, just let me know. Thanks for the welcome. GZ Brian

More like 64 mpg, I reckon. Especially 2 up.
