Newbe question

First of all I would like to say I’ve been reading allot of old post here and have found your sight to be very helpful, fun and informative. So glad I stumbled upon it.
Second I’ve had my GZ250 about a week and have been riding as much as the weather around here will allow, put close to 100 miles on her already, about ½ with my wife on the back with me. The bike dose a good job carrying us both anywhere we want to go. Haven’t done much highway yet and don’t really plan to. I usually try to stick to secondary roads even when traveling long distances, in my truck. I just think you still get to see more of Americana when you stay off the super slabs.
Anyway on to my Question, I have been searching for fun and accessories, and am a bit confused. Is the GZ250 a model of its own? I see ads for parts and such for a Marauder GZ250, and others, just wondering are some parts / accessories interchangeable? Or dose everything I want for my 2008 have to be GZ250 specific? :??:

As far as i know, the Marauder is the name given to the GZ outside of the US. In most cases, accessories are interchangeable, but I have heard of differences in parts (mostly in the carburetion and emissions.) There's an emblem on the Marauder gas tank, I think the carb jet adjustment screws are not sealed on the Marauder and I think there is an emissions canister on the US. Stuff like battery covers, tires, seats, backrests, luuggage racks, windshields, etc should all be the same, but be more careful if you decide to replace your carb or anything in the exhaust or drive train. I suspect a lot of those parts are very similar, but may not be exactly the same (and might not be legal in some states.)

Also, remember in England the driver is on the wrong side!

Yup......... mine's a marauder. GZ & Marauder are the same thing. Same bike - different country.The Canadian/European spec (Marauder) are both the same. Mine's European. The carb is set up richer than the American bikes, to comply with the emission regs, & mine's got some sort of vacuum operated crank case ventilation.

Alan .......... What exactly do you mean by "the driver is on the wrong side"? The wrong side of the road? The wrong side of the world? The wrong side of 60? Or do you imagine that English bikes have everything in reverse, like brakes on the left of the bike, & clutch/gear shift on the right?

Kind of but not really. The Marauder label was given, for a time, to several different models of bikes, I'm pretty sure. SO.......if it says an accessory is for a GZ 250 or a Maurader 250, that is all the same thing. If it just says Maurader, you have to look further because I don't think ALL Mauraders are 250s.

You are right EASY. There is also a MARAUDER 800,1200,1400,and 1600. Depending on years and labeling.

Completely off topic, but at one time there were a few bikes made with the clutch on the right and the brake on the left, Harley made it I think, that would be a B*tch to try to learn to ride.

Had a Sportster (early 70's?) that the foot shifter was mounted on the right with the brake on the left.

Damn near killed myself when I went back to jap. Never seen one with reversed hand controls.
