I Have a 2007 suzuki gz 250 that I have owned for a year....
And i love it. But i wouldnt mind getting a little more power and maybe a better sound out of it. and make it look better. Because right now it is all stock. I am almost going into college and would like to do this kinda cheap also
So if you can help out or let me know of some cool things to do to my bike that would be great... I did find an exhaust on ebay. but i do not know if it is a good one of if anyone has tried it but here is a link to it http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUZUK...Q5fAccessories and here is another one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SUZUK...Q5fAccessories thanks!!! :2tup: Login or Register to Remove Ads |

If not you should. If you HAVE, then you should already know that more power and better sound are elusive goals. Not that you can't make some improvement, but the changes are slight and, for most people, just not worth the $$$ and the hassle, in the end. The only sure way to get more power and "better" sound is to trade bikes. Sorry. As for making it "look better", beauty is in the eye of the beholder; go for it. There are scant few "stock" accessories though. Welcome to the fold.

Gotta agree with Easy Rider. Ride the bike as is. Maintain it properly and learn to appreciate the bike for what it is. The bike is nearly bullet proof in stock configuration and has a proven track record. Develop your riding skills and enjoy the bike.

Re: I Have a 2007 suzuki gz 250 that I have owned for a year....
I agree with the previous two posters, but here's something you can try that won't cost anything: ride the bike more aggressively. I have two bikes - the GZ and a 1854cc Yamaha. Two extremes of the power curve. When I ride the GZ it is a major adjustment but I try to make a game of it and squeeze every last bit of go out of it as possible. Mostly this boils down to an aggressive body stance (nose on the speedo) and running the revs way up in third and fourth gear.
It's still not gonna blow anybody's doors off, but with the right attitude you can get about 10 more mph out of the typical top end. Also, make sure the bike is running good to begin with. With the carb and riding seasons and whatnot, it is easy for a GZ to deteriorate to far less than ideal condition with regard to performance. If you are riding yours regularly, that's probably sufficient, but some have found carb cleaners and other adjustments have had a noticeable impact on overall "go." Ultimately, with few exceptions, damn near all of us bought bigger bikes.

Yep! I've done most of the mods that have been discussed on here and basically have just wasted time.
Better sound + More power = Bigger bike

Ok thanks! I really just want something with basically a better sound and not a sewing machine sound! but I will keep my bike because I love it because it gets amazing Gas mileage compared to my uncles 2002 Yamaha Vstar 1100 classic!!!

Just put Singer decals on the tank. Personally I wear ear plugs to protect what's left of my hearing and the Vstrom has a quiet factory exhaust.

Re: I Have a 2007 suzuki gz 250 that I have owned for a year....
The beauty of the exhaust sound is purely in the ears of the beholder (sound quasi familiar?).
My GZ sounded like a GZ was supposed to sound, and to me it was never like a sewing machine. It was what it was and it worked perfectly. My Suzuki S50 with the aftermarket pipes that came on it sounds awesome, not excessively loud, but it lets you know someone's home, this is a bike not to be messed with, no wimps here. Everybody looks at it and hears it and knows that bike means business. On the other hand, the Ninja 250 I just got has a very quiet exhaust, but when you ride it all you hear is the incredibly smooth turbine-like whine from the engine, almost like an electric motor spinning up, and that sound is great, much better than an exhaust noise. I'm real happy with that bike, that I can hear the engine winding up and spinning, a machine running in perfect form, instead of a loud roaring noise.. So to each his own, each bike, each ear is different, just enjoy it for what it is. If you start messing with the exhaust, you may have to go another step and fuss with the carb, and keep going on and on and you may not like the end result, either in terms of sound, or performance, or change in gas mileage. You want a different sound or more power?, get a different bike. Changing the exhaust from stock many times will lower the resale value considerably because someone else may not like what you did to the bike. |
