Choke Lever Stiffness

How tight should the choke lever be? On my '99 GZ I find it is VERY stiff. I have to really push on it with my thumb to get it to move.

Re: Choke Lever Stiffness

The choke cable could probably use a little oil. Just a few drops of oil at the lever end will work it's way down to the carb end with time. My personal choice is ATF but any light oil will do.

I've noticed this too, and in fact, I recently took apart the clutch lever mechanism where the choke is and poured some oil in there. I also adjusted the clutch cable (but just at the top). Still, the choke is pretty stiff, though a little better. Anyone else notice this, too?

I think you lucked out. It is supposed to be stiff....so it STAYS where you put it while warming up. Others have oiled it and found it won't stay in place anymore.

I thought someone said you could adjust the tension somewhat ......but I don't remember HOW.
Wonder if that is covered in the service manual ??
