Casual ride along the Delaware River

I didn't take too many pictures this time (ive done this ride many times and have TONS of pictures posted on my gallery). We started in Easton Pa (starting point of the canal) and rode to New Hope, Pa following the Delaware the entire way. 120 mile round trip.

The very cool thing about stopping at the canal locks was that i see they have been doing a lot of work to repair the canal that was washed out / destroyed by the hurricane floods of '06. Every curve in the canal was pushed into the river by the force of the flood. Walls washed out, debris strewn everywhere and left piled up at all the locks. Small bridges washed out, fencing washed out, picnic tables torn from their spots.

Its been 2 years but they have finally started rebuilding the canal. I see they were building boat docks at some of the locks. Looks as though they will be reopening it and running canal boats once again.

Its such a beautiful ride ... but always been missing the picturesque canal (with water in it) as you ride. They are moving at a great pace, looks like they might be done late next year or the following year. I will have to check into it and see what the projected finish date might be.

Anyways, we stopped at ALL the canal locks along the way, walked down to the river edge and took a few pics. Ended up in New Hope, Pa. Its a ritzy ass town with shops and a train ride, places to eat. Very small town with lots to do (if you can afford it). Very exclusive shops and restaurants. Place is LOADED with people at all times. Its a big stop for those on motorcycles as well as those in BMW's/SUVs/ferraris. I felt VERY out of place in my leather (yet there are many bikers there). We decided we couldnt afford to eat there so we headed back and had good ol fashioned pizza at a poor mans price lol.

On the way back, we stopped at a covered bridge that i frequent for pics.

Re: Casual ride along the Delaware River

That's one of my favorite rides too. There are a lot of nice hilly curvy roads off of river road as well, both on the pennsy side and the jersy side. And a bunch of cool little towns along the river on both sides. Nice pics Dupo!
