Air Filter Q&A
So I decided to pop out my air filter and take a look at it, seems like I read in a few different places that it is key to long engine life.
Over all I'd say it looks ok but I blew it of for good measure. What do you experts think? Maybe I sure just replace just because? If I do I have read that K/N makes one that can be used?

If you go with this, you'll almost certainly need to adjust your jetting a bit. If you leave the restrictor plate in place you may not have to adjust it TOO much but there will be some adjustment involved either way. |

I would NOT recommend a K&N or any other after-market replacement because the filter is an important part of "tuning" the carb. fuel ratio. If you don't believe this just ride it for a few hundred yards with the air filter OUT. Do NOT do this in traffic though as you might get run over as it sputs and stumbles. :cool: If you don't ride in dust or on unpaved roads, my guess is 10,000 miles or 5 years. Oddly enough, when the filter starts to plug, you may notice a slight decrease if fuel mileage and a slight increase in performance for a while.
