State by State bar chart

The Bad Idea Bears have paid me another visit: I know we have the link to the Frappr site or whatever the location thingie is called, and it was very cool when I looked at it last, and it was still working (although I hear that may no longer be the case) BUT, I was wondering if there is a mod for the member list page whereby one could click, say, a button, and get a histogram of the distribution of members by state. A bar chart, with fifty or so skinny bars, if you will. We use an add-on package to embed this sort of thing in our accounting and finance stuff, perhaps such a thing exists for php/MySql envs.

Even cooler would be if you clicked you state's bar, you could see a just of just those people.

Seems like the site growth is accelerating (no doubt due to your diligent efforts at making it better and better all the time) and little pockets of same state riders are popping up. Plus I noticed that whenever you measure stuff, it always seems to improve.

Just a thought.

This is a very good idea, except that it would require a considerable amount of coding. The Location field is simply a text field that will take any alphanumeric. In order to modify it to accept a country/state code, you would have to mod each style's registration and UCP template, and phpBB's code to display and insert into the database the specific elements for each user on registration and/or editing.

Then you'd have to modify the templates for the member list, posts, forum lists and create from scratch, the code and templates for searching/displaying/sorting/graphing the location out on separate pages or embeds.
