Windshield Recommendation for GZ250

Hi,

I am in the market for a windshield for my GZ250. I am thinking about the Slipstreamer SS28 windshield, but am concerned it might be too large and kill the top end.

Anyone with this shield on their bike? How about other folks with windshields, which one have you had good luck with ?

I had one of those on my bike and liked it a lot. It does not kill the top end, and it does keep the wind off your hands, it's the right height (15") and fits well. With it's 4 point mounting system it is a little hard to get on unless you have an assistant to help, but it is solidly attached and doesn't move around. Just get the angle or rake adjusted correctly, usually parallel to the forks. I think you will like it too.

That is "almost" the windshield I put on Lynda's GZ. After seeing yours I wish I would have.

Re: Windshield Recommendation for GZ250

Hey bmw633. I had the Slipstremer Hellfire (SS-24) and liked it. I'm 5'10" (stock seat) and it was the right height IMO. However, it did not offer protection for the hands. It was pretty cheap (I picked it up off eBay for $65 from Dennis Kirk's eBay outlet shop). It was easy to install and the only problem I had is that one of the wingnuts/screws (is that what they're called?) fell off. It's the black decorative nut (that also functions like a screw) that keeps the winshield attached to the handlebar clamps. While I owned the GZ, I had trouble from time-to-time with the remaining wingnut/screw as well and had to tighten it by hand once a week or so.

That Hellfire is now on my Vulcan, but I don't seem to be having a problem with the wingnut/screw any longer. Not sure why since I've tightened it by hand in all situations.

Likely the GZ vibrated differently. Never had a problem with the shield on Lynda's GZ but her M-50 tried to spit off the shield so the wing headed bolts were replaced with real bolts and the problem was solved. Almost every bike with added parts comes with it's own set of quirks.

Ah..... Yes, I suppose that would make a difference. Safe to say the Vulcan rides with less vibration than the GZ at 65pmh.

Wish I could find one in the UK. The postage and import duties kill it for me.
