Oil Filter & Air Filter

Hello everyone... I just picked up a 2001 GZ250 and want to change the oil, oil filter, and air filter...

Question 1- The bike has under 5000 miles on it and I'm unsure if the previous owners used synthetic. Should I just go with the synthetic either way?

Question 2- I can't find a definitive answer on part numbers for either filter and where is the best/cheapest place to buy?

I looked at the part manual and service manual, but didn't see it. (feel free to call me an idiot)

I just called suzuki parts center here in NY, and ordered oil filter and air filter for my specific bike (2000 gz) and they looked it up and i picked them up a few days later. Some guys use synthetic and some dont. I dont, i just bought regular motorcycle oil from pep boys.

You can use synthetic if you want,but there there are alternates that work well.One of the more popular ones are Shell Rotella-t,reasonable priced,and safe for wet clutches.
Here are alternatives for filters that are about 1/2 price of O.E.M.
Hiflo-Filtro HFA-3503 air HF-136 oil.

I found this.... but when i use the tool that matches that part to your motorcycle, it says it doesn't fit.

I should have elaborated.It is listed for the GS500,but it is the same filter as our G.Z.'s Sorry for the confusion.
