And we wondered why the guy from Indonesia was asking about putting double caliper brakes on his GZ. This might answer that question. I think motorcycles in less developed countries tend to get a harder life than we give them around here.

Motorcycles are one of the toughest forms of transportation in the world. People ask bikes to do some extremely hard work without a whimper. As North Americans we tend to judge bikes by their size and speed but in developing countries it is all about load capacity and can the whole family climb on.
Just try to imagine the skill involved when on a congested bumpy street with a 300 lb. load and a center of gravity above your shoulders.
