Mirror adjustment

Looking for hints on mirror adjustment. Maybe its just me used to driving a car with a rearview mirror but how should I position my mirrors. I am not sure I am seeing what I should. Any tips?

I like to be able to look just over the tops of my elows and have enough view to catch whatever is behind me.

For things left or right, I use my head and look.

I think that is how my mirrors adjusted. I can see my forearm/elbow in the bottom corners of the mirrors but when stopped lights I don't see anyone right behind me. I have to turn the bars and tuck in my arm to see anyone. I don't see the car behind me but more what would be on the side of that car. If that makes sense. It makes me nervous not knowing whats behind me. I have tried moving the mirrors in but then I my arm covers half the mirror and I still can't see behind me. My only thoughts are to make a new bar for the mirror to move it more toward the end of the handlebars.

You should be more concered about seeing behind you than you about having them lined up a certain way. You and I may be different sizes. Also, you can move your head a little. Motorcycle mirrors aren't exactly perfect. I don't even think they are as big as they should be. But, any bigger and they would dwarf the bike. So, for style reasons, you gotta keep those small mirrors. I mean, hey. Isn't style the most important thing?

fixed my problem. I made a new stem and now I have 2 option for mirror placement.
