Does this balaclava look OK to you ?

[attachment=1:2io0cwkd]largebalaclava.jpg[/attachment:2io0cwkd]Hey fellas. I'm thinking of buying this for those cold mornings riding to work (now that I have a job to go to). Its from a website called cheapcycleparts.com and it says "one size fits all" for $25. Is that average ? Should I look for something better ?
I think the price is OK, but the website doesn't describe it, like what is it made of ?

Let me hear from you guys that have one already.

UPDATE: I just saw a better one at Amazon.com for $10 less. This one say "polyester micro fleece" and the few customer reviews it had were good, some were from bike riders.

Re: Does this balaclava look OK to you ?

Looks like a bit of overkill but would probably work great with a 3/4 or 1/2 helmet. Having a full face hat I have used a much lighter, stretchier balaclave with good results. Found it in a hiking/outdoors store. A hands on purchase is generally a better fit than an online purchase from my experience. Hmm, guess you wouldn't have too many ski shops in your neck of the woods.....................ah maybe a hunting shop for those cool mornings while waiting for Bambi.

Oh just noticed the update(2nd balaclave) and it is similar to mine. A decent fit and makes the helmet slide on easier.

Those look fine.

But I've found some even better deals over the last couple of days while shopping for some REAL winter gloves.

Check out the Freeze-Out gear from CycleGear.com

Freeze-Out Balaklava on sale for $12.95
http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product/ba ... web1008338

They have nice of Freeze-out gear discounted for the Holidays.
And you know it's legit, because I found it in the back of a Cycle World Magazine.

I looked at it Jonathan, but didn't like the blue seams and the small eye window. I ordered the one from Amazon.com.
Hey, did you buy your winter gloves ?

Re: Does this balaclava look OK to you ?

Yeah GZrider, it might be overkill. But I want to be ready in case. I have been noticing that during the early morning hours, like 5 and 6 am, its around 38 - 39 degrees. I start working on Dec 12th, and I have to be there ready to start at 6:30am sharp. Its 4 weeks of training, and they said I can't miss one day or come in late even once.

I gotta make sure I can show up every day on the bike. I don't wanna freeze my face and walnuts on the bike at 6am.
Have you done any riding that early ? What do you wear ?

For what it's worth, "bicycling" thermal under pants are cheaper than "motorcycle" thermal under pants and are exactly the same thing.

www.nashbar.com

They are wind blockers and thermal lined on the inside with something like hipora and fleece. I don't really know what all that stuff is, but it works.
Same with a Balaklava. In any temps under 40, I wear one. They're just good to have.
And, some people have a higher tolerance to cold than others. I am a cold weenie, but I wear lots of warm things and I am able to ride through the winter.
