My Last Ride of the Season?
It was 46F today after we got about 6 inches of snow last week. It was a bit chilly but not bone chilling. Trouble is the snow melt made the roads quite wet and with the salt residue on the road, made for very slippery conditions. It's supposed to be close to 50F Sunday and Monday but I'll have to see how the road looks. I can only stretch out the season so much I guess. Unless I move South that is.
I didn't think about the road salt before though. Probably not a good idea to ride in it as I'm sure it doesn't help the chain's life too much.

Re: My Last Ride of the Season?
The chain has a protective coating of lube on it normally. It's the rest of the bike you have to worry about. I haven't been on 2 wheels since Oct 19th, consider your self lucky. Hopefully this winter won't drag on forever like last year. It never gets really cold or too snowy but just miserable enough to make the odd ride an exercise in futility.

Re: My Last Ride of the Season?
It's been in the 70's by day and low 50's to upper 40's here at night. Great riding weather.
As far as the salt. Make sure to wash the bike well after each ride. You don't want that nasty stuff to be eating away at your ride. I certainly don't miss salt covered roads since moving down here. But being a beach area we do have our fair share of sand.

Re: My Last Ride of the Season?
Haha you guys with no winter... :neener:
Took my bike out yesterday, could not resist... 50F. I just can't put the bike away... Kind of cool though, I agree with WW that that's about the limit before I start having to wear too many layers. The road salt is definitely the issue though. I have my outside water lines sealed up for winter so it's not so easy to wash the bike. I suppose it's about that time....

My favorite riding temperature is 50F it is so crisp and nice, I have been riding to work on dry days at that temperature.

Re: My Last Ride of the Season?
I was out Monday,it was 10c (50f) which is uncommonly warm here for December.I'm afraid it is probably my last ride of the season.Oh well.Oil is changed, tank filled and stabilizer added.Battery on tender.
