HELLO FROM SOUTH FLORIDA!

HELLO EVERYONE!

Decided to sign up and actually post and contribute to the forums if possible! i just recently purchased a 2005 GZ 250, got a great price on her at $1500.00! with only 2.7k miles on it! AWESOME! At least i thought :shocked: I have had nothing but problem after problem, and the sad thing is that it wasn't me working on the bike O_o , I think I made a mistake and went to the first shop that I could find without doing research on it :drool: or bringing it to the local motorsports dealership. Least to say $1000.00 and 6 weeks later my bike has returned home, it ran very well, sound wonderful, and started with a flick of the button. I was very happy! then i noticed there is oil coming from the exhaust on the front of the bike which tells me that he did not replace any seals on there, as well as the bolts are not to torque spec, and as a result my oil has leaked and i have a dirty engine that i have to clean, and shifting is horrible! So after some reading (and digging) for information on the forums, I have ordered the parts from a local dealership and am going to put in the new seals, bolts, and lube the shifter as well, as adjust the clutch cable to my riding preference.

I felt like I was falling into the rabbit hole on this whole deal with the repair, and it was this is bad one week, and this is also bad the next as well as we are waiting on the part this week. The whole experience was pretty horrible :retard: . Like I said before probably my own fault. this bike is at about $2500.00 now... defiantly not as great a deal as I thought, but still a great bike! I have replace rocker arms, adjusters, cam chain, cam guides, cam sprocket, all needed gaskets, exhaust gaskets, bolts, oil filter, oil, and even new saddle bags. This bike will hopefully be defiantly worth the money I have spent on it, and should give me a long life ahead as long as she is maintained, every 3k.

Lessons Learned:
Research a mechanic if you don't want to, bring it to a dealership
Never EVER trust what the previous owner says unless there is proper paperwork to back it

If its simple and you have to tools GIT ER DONE!

Yeah tell me about it, I am from California originally, and any mechanic would have never gotten away with this, it almost makes me want to take a course on how to work on motorcycles, they are robbing me @ 75.00/hr plus parts, and for a grand you think they would go over the bike with a fine toothed comb. Alas I forget that I am in Florida.....

beautiful and fun place to live, but the workers here are piss poor in my opinion!

On another note, I shall call her THE PIRATE! YAAAAARRR!!!!!!

In all seriousness, if there is one things this site is good for, it's helping out members save money. Without collective knowledge, we can pretty much tear the bike down and put it all back together without any extra parts left over. So before you start handing people money in the future, come in here and see if we can't hash out a diagnosis.

Yeah I have figured that out the last couple of days although i think my head is starting to spin from information overload. I purchased the new filter, and the new exhaust seals today. just need to go to a hardware store to get the bolts, was reading something about that, i just looked at them yesterday and they seem a little worse for the wear. But this place is defiantly my source for information. Thanks! I cant wait to become a more contributing member of the forums

It can be a lot to take in, I know.

We do have a lot of repetitive conversations sometimes, as most of the main issues that crop up with these things are the same everywhere you go. In cases like that, the "sticky" threads cover just about all of the major issues.

As you contribute more, remember that we like photos.

Sometimes we'll spend pages talking about something when a simple photo could have offered clues to a resolution much soon. Or heck, photos are good just to show off your bike. There is nothing better than a little GZporn.
