Dot 3 vs Dot 4
Our bikes are supposed to take Dot 4 brake fluid.
I have some Dot 3 brake fluid. Research shows the biggest different is Dot 4 has a higher boiling point. Can I use Dot 3? Thoughts? Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Re: Dot 3 vs Dot 4
Go with fresh DOT 4 in a new container. An opened previously container of any brake fluid may contain water. The fluid is hydroscopic and loves water. It will suck moisture from the air if given a chance.

I dont wanna be that guy and I do know that the reason that you want to replace your brake fluid as often as you do and always use a fresh sealed container is as Water Warrior has said, It is like a sponge it sucks up water and as we all know water has a extremely low boiling point in comparison.
