New Bike-New Rider

Actually, I'm a new rider on a 2000 GZ250. It's kind of cold out but we are getting ready to go on my first ride.
My husband bought me the bike for our 25th wedding anniversary-just this past thurs! I don't have pics yet but
I'll post them when I have them!

Does anybody know where I can get whitewall tires? I've been looking and it seems they don't make
them for a bike this size.

Have a great Saturday!
CLR

Re: New Bike-New Rider

Welcome CLR. You will find the GZ to be an excellent first bike and a great tool for developing your riding skills. Please take a rider's training course and wear proper riding gear for your own safety. Hubby isn't the best instructor because he is too personally involved and likely to pass on any bad habits he has developed. Been there done that.
And as I mention to most new riders, a little light reading is a must. Pick up a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.

Congrats on 25 years of marriage.

Re: New Bike-New Rider

Welcome to the forum. It seems like someone posted some pics a few years back of a GZ with big whitewall tires on it.

Anybody remember that?

Welcome CLR! :2tup:
And congratulations on your 25th, for me that will be next May.
The only whitewall tires commercially available are Dunlop D404:

or you can paint your own with whitewall paint.

Re: New Bike-New Rider

Thanks for all your responses. After reviewing the links to the while wall tires and seeing the troubles that go with a bigger tire...I will just go with the stock size. I'm not having much luck finding matching pairs though. Can anybody suggest a good set of stock size tires? Also, I did go through the motorcycle safety course! I'm still sharpening my skills on the country roads around my house. I really love my bike!

Oh great!! We have another member of the female persuasion. This does factor in when we talk about comfy levels and the bike fitting the rider.

Hi there,

Thing is.........you don't need matching pairs. So long as they're the correct size, just go for what you can get, or whichever tread patterns you like. Nearly everyone rides with different brands on the front and rear. :2tup:
