Etiquette question about "friends"...

I want to start creating a "friends" list ... is it customary to let that "friend" know first?
Is the "friend" (or "foe" for that matter) auto-notified when he/she is placed on somebody list?

I don't believe they are auto notified.

I think the "Friends" list only notifies the person who set it up when the friends are online.

Yes and yes. Otherwise it is a big surprise and takes people somewhat aback.....as the reply by Sarris indicates. The only "friend" invite I have had was from some spammer; hmmm.....gotta think about that one for a while!
I distinctly remember getting a message asking if it was OK to be added to someone's "friend" list; I THINK is was in this forum.

I don't think the feature is used too much (not at all??). Since the active membership isn't all that large, it may not accomplish much.

Thanks, Easy. I'm new to this whole forum "thing" and I'm anxious to get the most out of it. But I suspect you're right.

Oddly enough that is the same "friend" list I have. And I also agree with you, if those two assholes don't like that they are on my friends list then............... :biggun:
