Long ride to the Georgia Coast

Just got back from a four day/900 mile ride to the Georgia coast. Took my camping gear which was tough. Better to bike down and stay in a motel or take the car and carry much more stuff.
Who has the longest ride on a GZ250??

Are we being censored? Seems like some of my posts don't get on the board. Why? Who would want to censor a board about motorcycles?????

Chris near Atlanta

Re: Long ride to the Georgia Coast

Longest ride on a GZ might belong to Patrick Henry of Nashville who did 10,000 mile round trip to Alaska in 2005.

Some details are here: http://home.comcast.net/~pat1776/Alaska05/

Re: Long ride to the Georgia Coast

Hi, Alan,
I read all about the guy that did 9500 miles in 18 days. Great for a charity, but I don't want to get close to that kind of mileage. 500+ miles per day??? Sounds like hell to me. I just did 900 miles in four days and that was excessive.
I read about their 2009 ride, but, again, not for me. Perhaps some of the younger guys with larger budgets and smaller brains will go.

Chris, retired near Atlanta.

Re: Long ride to the Georgia Coast

In the early nineties, when my kids were still kids, we did some lengthy RV trips. On the first one I learned that constant driving does not a vacation make. The second one we greatly simplified the itinerary and spent a lot more time hanging out. My ideal trip would have no fixed destinations or schedule, just some general points of interest with the rest improvised.

Re the Florida to Alaska run, they support partial participation, as little as one day. I think they come through CA. I could see hooking up with them for a day.

Since nobody else tackled this, I will.
I think NOT. Quite to the contrary, things get a little "loose" from time to time.

You just need to be careful and pay close attention to what happens AFTER you hit the SUBMIT button. Sometimes it says something like: Another post has been entered since you started your reply. You might want to revise your post in light of those remarks (which it displays for you).

At other times, for me at least, I could swear that I properly clicked the SUBMIT button but it just flickers the screen and does nothing.

I suspect the missing posts are "pilot error".

Pilot error?? I think not! In the Army we called it "operator headspace".

Chris,
I've been having to move your threads to their appropriate forums. I've just been quiet about it.

Part of Patrick's "Be Kind to Seniors" policy.

More along the lines of my "try not to be a total asshole to newbs" policy.

The rule of unintended consequences. I don't know about Chris but SOME of us worry too much about declining memory capacity already, without "help" from things like that !!
