Stainless Steel brake line / pad inspection.

Does anyone know of a braided stainless steel brake line that would fit the GZ? The service manual says to replace the brake line every 4 years. My GZ is a 2000 and still has the original brake line, so I'm almost double the recommended interval. My GZ has 4000 miles on it, 800 of them mine.

How do you guys check the wear on your brake pads? It's damn near impossible to see them. I can only see the inside pad looking thru the wheel and I thought it looked pretty thin so I ordered SBS Ceramic pads. However once I got them they didn't look much thicker than the pads that were on the bike. I know there is supposed to be a little groove that once it wears below the groove you're supposed to replace the pads. However I don't think I'd be able to see the groove if it were there without taking apart the brakes. By visually looking, I'd guess I have about 1.5-2.5mm of brake pad left of the inside pad that I can see.

You could have sent me a PM, but this is better for the whole.

You'll need 36-38 inches of line. Speigler, Goodridge & Galfer all make universal line kits.
As far as a SS kit made specifically for our bikes, your best bet would be to find a prefabbed kit made for a bike with similar dimensions to ours, as there are no options in the aftermarket for the GZ250.

To find a bike that most closely resembles our dimensions, I would advise the use of the www.ronayers.com microfiche.

Go to the website, select FICHE from the drop-down tab, and then select Suzuki and follow the instructions.

I haven't checked, but I'm betting on the S40. Make sure that the bike you are looking for comes with a 45 degree end and a flat end to correctly connect to the master cylinder and the caliper.

I take my caliper of to check the brake pads. Just don't touch the brake lever while you have the caliper of. :oops: Don't ask how I know this.

The line that you get from Speigler is still a universal line, they just add the banjos for you.

I know that you guys can go outside and look at this yourself, but this might help save you some time. Like I said, 45 degree up top and a straight banjo on the bottom.

Do you think the brake line for a S40 would work on the gz250? The S40 has drag bars-wouldnt that make the brake line shorter by defaulty.

Yeah,
I was looking at the possibilities after I posted this and the S40 brake line is way shorter with different style banjos. So, forget about it. The 800 Marauder comes pretty close. However, it's probably better to just get a universal kit.
