Can't get the starter to crank

Hello, this is my first post here. My wife has a 2006 GZ250 that won't turnover. I just replaced the battery, turn the key on and neutral light shows. Press the starter and nothing. If you hold the clutch in and press the starter, the starter solenoid clicks, but that all we get. I ran a jumper from the positive post to the starter and it cranks. I'm about to order a new solenoid, but thought I would see what others might suggest.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Yea sounds like the solenoid, but make sure the battery connections are tight and clean also.

For what it's worth, Ditto on the solenoid.
