Welcome, Susan!
I visit friends in Bradenton every few years, and next time I'm thinking of renting a bike and touring around a bit.
I've driven on I-75 and I-4 many times, but never ridden them.
What do you think about taking your new GZ on those highways?
Personally, I daydream about cruising up and down Gulf of Mexico Dr. outside Sarasota Bay.

Smart ass!! :crackup Actually I have my HARLEY steel toed boots from 14 years ago...like brand new because I used to RIDE...not much of a workout there for them other than the soles right in front of the heel. ROFL

Cayuse, I am originally from Sarasota...born and raised...then moved to Bradenton for a couple of years...then eventually made my way to Tampa in '94...and we've been in Thonotosassa for 9 years in June. We are right in the northeast quadrant of I-4 & I-75...hop skip and a jump to darned near anywhere...love it!
Haven't yet taken her on the interstate. The 2000 that I was going to buy had a windshield and I had plans of removing it...but the bike that I bought does not have one and let me tell you, there IS a huge difference. Over 45mph and I feel like I'm on a rocket....and I am guessing it's the wind attempting to push me off the back and not sheer speed. I have only put about 10 miles on her so far...driving her home from Plant City on the back country roads (WONDERFUL drive!) and then yesterday to the tag office in Brandon, which was mostly "back" roads, but needed to run up to the atm on 60...so had to get into some real traffic...lunch hour at that.
I have a feeling I will be cruising Ybor often.

Yesterday I "had to" run to near downtown to my daughter's school to talk to the principal or the "teacher" (she used to be a teacher but in this regards is just paying my daughter for a wall mural) who is giving her problems about paying her fully for the work that they agreed upon. Anyhoo...the principal was in a meeting and the woman was on the phone lol. So a trip for nothing...and I got there around 1:30, just enough time to stay for a few minutes then turn right back around to pick up my son in time from his school.
BUT, on the way there I realized that since I put gas in her, I had actually 18 miles on her (and maybe 15 or so prior to filling up...for all of less than $8!! WOOHOOO!)...so the miles are "flying by" lol
But the weather could not have been more gorgeous...I had to roll my sleeves up so that I didn't get a farmer's tan....but when I got home realized I have a biker's tan instead...the white starts where my large turquoise cuffs on each wrist lead into my full fingered gloves. :crackup What a gorgeous and fun ride for nothing it was!!! :chop:
And on the way home, since I was pinched for time, I took the faster, shorter (yet still safe) way home....I took I-4, from the Ybor exit to MLK (not a super long distance)....and it was awesome! Other than the grooves that they have cut into the entire surface of the road, it was much better than I expected. So I think I am now up to around 60 miles on her since the fill-up.
I'm going to try to get my daughter to take some pics of me this weekend on my baby. And I am wanting to run over to see the teacher of my MSF course...to show him that he trained me well and say thank you to him again and show the new kids on the block that you easily go from n00b on day one to a "real" biker. :poke2:

Hope you remembered to set your trip meter back to zero when you filled up. That's the only "fuel guage" the geezer has. When it comes round to 150 miles again, fill up, then remember to set it to zero again. :2tup:

Oh yeah...been doing it for years with my cars...even if they show what the mpg is. Funny thing though is that I was trying every which way to push it to reset it and I'm assuming the only way is to crank it back around until it's all zeros again...right? :retard:

That's right....Just twist it gently. Twist the top away from you.

its good to use the reserve too. if you always have the fuel valve on "on" you will end up with sediment on the bottlm of the tank and might even clog up the reserve side of the intank strainer over time.
