Just when you think .........

Well another ride last night....was thinking to myself...wow I am doing really well...decided to go to the local timmies(coffee shop) where the "bikers" hang out....I was turning the corner...and not sure what happened but ended up with full throttle and the clutch pulled in, wobbling all over the place...in front of the cool "bikers" ....not one of my better moments..thank goodness for full face helmets..nobody could see the look of fear on my face. Have to admit I am a little gun shy now...and hesitant to go out in traffic for fear of a repeat performance.....I thought I was in control...but obvioulsly not...and yes I have taken a course...just seemed so much easier in the parking lot doing 20..
Hopefully the courage will return and I will venture out again tomorrow night.

That's called a whoop-shit. We all have had those as Newbies. Give it time, it'll come natural soon, and you'll look back at your Newbie foibles and laugh.

I like the whoop-shit name. Very appropos. I have one of those about every other ride. I'm hoping none of them turn into a whoop-shit-aw-crap-I-just-busted-my-leg moments. So far, so good.

Keep practicing and stay focused. I usually have mine just after I start thinking "I've got this thing nailed!"

It sounds like you let yourself get distracted by your situation outside of actually riding your own bike. Be careful and try to concentrate more on what you and your bike are doing, and not what others see you and your bike doing.

Like Sarris said, it happens to all of us...and usually at the most inopportune times for looking "cool".

I've done that kind of thing before. It's usually at work, in the parking lot, in front of 4 bajillion students. Hurray for tinted visors.

My first real Whoop-shit was way back in 1978. Lost coordination of mind and body when the light turn green. Dumped the clutch at 9000 RPM on my GT 750.
